Patrick J. Manley, Esq. Seattle native, born in Seattle and raised in Edmonds, Washington, where he attended Meadowdale High School and wrestled varsity for Meadowdale's two-time State Champion wrestling team (1984-85). He graduated from the University of Washington in 1990, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. His areas of study included Human Motivation, Biological Psychology, Social Psychology and Clinical/Abnormal Psychology.
Mr. Manley earned his Law Degree from Seattle University School of Law in 1994. During law school, he competed in Moot Court and the International Law Society, while clerking and interning in the areas of personal injury and employment law, including trying arbitrations and court cases as a Rule 9 Legal Intern. He was admitted to the bar in 1995 and formed his first firm, Manley & Hughes, in 1996. In 1998, he formed Manley & Associates with his wife, Ann Carey Manley, which became The Manley Firm in 2006.
Mr. Manley is a seasoned and experienced trial lawyer, having litigated a wide variety of cases including: Contract Disputes, Personal Injury Claims, Trade Secret & Intellectual Property Disputes, Employee Wage and Hour Claims, Residential and Commercial Real Estate Disputes, Landlord-Tenant Disputes and Non-Competition Agreement Litigation. He is also frequently selected as an Arbitrator in the King County Superior Court Mandatory Arbitration Program, which demonstrates his fairness and objectivity among his peers in the legal community. As an Arbitrator, Mr. Manley has presided over cases involving Commercial Disputes, Auto-Accident & Personal Injuries, Insurance Reimbursement and Recovery (aka Subrogation), and Breach of Contract cases. Mr. Manley has also been honored to serve as Judge for the Moot Court Competition at Seattle University School of Law. Mr. Manley is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA) and the Washington State Trial Lawyers Association (WSTLA), where he chaired the Young Lawyer's Section of WSTLA for the 1997-98 term, and later served on the Editorial Board for the WSTLA publication Trial News for the 2004-05 term.
Aside from practicing law, his interests include coaching soccer, kayaking, hiking, biking, woodworking, camping, traveling and spending time with his family. When time allows, he can also be found playing poker or cribbage with colleagues after work, or watching his once dominant Huskies struggle to regain their prominence from his Tyee Club seats at Husky Stadium. Ann Carey Manley, Esq. Born in Brawley, California and spent most of her childhood in skiing and frolicking in Boise, Idaho before moving to Seattle in 1982. She graduated with honors from Newport High School in Bellevue, class of 1986. She attended the University of Puget Sound, then completed her studies at the University of Washington, graduating with honors in 1991, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.
Mrs. Manley earned her Law Degree from Seattle University School of Law in 1994, graduating in the top 20% of her class. Prior to graduating, Mrs. Manley earned Dean's List honors and earned a Federal Judicial Externship, clerking for the Hon. Sydney Volinn of the 9th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel in 1993.
